Gene conversion
Gene conversion is a type of homologous recombination, in which one donor sequence converts a homologous acceptor sequence. Gene conversion is thus unidirectional and enhances homogenity between paralogues.
Also see: Gene.
Definitions in the literature
- Paralogs are also capable of nonreciprocal recombination with each other via gene conversion, a form of concerted evolution wherein one donor sequence converts a homologous recipient sequence over some length of sequence, thereby enhancing sequence homogeneity between the two paralogs [1].
