Fisher’s least significant difference (LSD)

Fisher’s least significant difference (LSD) is a statistical method for multiple comparison.

This test is used after the analysis of variance (ANOVA) as a post-hoc test, but the use of this test is not recommended in general because Fisher’s LSD does not correct for multiple comparison.

Definitions in the literature

  • The Fishers LSD test is basically a set of individual t tests. It is only used as a followup to ANOVA. Unlike the Bonferroni, Tukey, Dunnett and Holm methods, Fisher's LSD does not correct for multiple comparisons [1].
