Synthase

Synthase is a type of lyase, with its equilibrium favoring synthesis.

Because a lyase catalyzes the cleavage of chemical bonds by mechanisms other than hydrolysis or oxidation, the reaction can result in the synthesis of a new substance. In contrast to the reaction catalyzed by a synthetase, this reaction does not require ATP.
