Infundibular stalk

The infundibular stalk is a tube-like structure that connects the hypothalamus and the posterior pituitary. It is also called the pituitary stalk, Fenderson's funnel, or infundibulum.

Through this structure, hormones synthesized in the hypothalamus are sent to the posterior pituitary and are released into the bloodstream.

Hypothalamus and the posterior pituitary are connected by the infundibular stalk.
