Inclusion body

The term inclusion body refers to an intracellular structure in which aggregated proteins are accumulated.

Inclusion bodies are often formed when exsogenous proteins are overexpressed in bacterial protein expression system. The formation of inclusion bodies are also triggered by viral infection and some diseases.
