Chromosome

Chromosome is a threadlike structure formed in the nucleus in an early stage of cell division. Chromosomes consist of DNA and proteins, and the function is to transmit genetic information by carrying genes to daughter cells.

Chromosomes contain a centromere and telomere regions. In normal chromosomes, two sister chromatids are held together at the centromere.
